Maintrain Tyseley Friends and Family Day
With Open Days becoming very difficult to justify due
to ever increasing costs of insurance they have almost disappeared from
the railway calendar in their traditional form. Instead depots with
something to celebrate are organising days for
their employees, their families and business contacts. By their nature
these are invitation only events, and are usually run to raise money for
charities with links to the work force.

Just for
the day; Tyseley Bear and Staff shed stickers were applied (see bottom

East Somerset Railway 150th Celebrations at Cranmore 21-22 June
2008
Thanks to the team at Merehead, 50049 was exhibited
along with 37901 and 37906. The weekend included trips round the quarry
and a steam powered launch on a nearby reservoir, as well as an
intensive service on the ESR and a shuttle service from Westbury.
At
the quarry itself demonstration steam hauled passenger and freight
trains were run. Here we can see 50049 on display beside the
demonstration lines. Photo Joseph Burr
