Light Engine and ECS Moves for Merlin Rail
50031's
mainline debut for 2003 came a few days earlier than expected on the
0Z95 working to move stock round from Waterloo to release a steam engine
that had hauled a steam tour in from Poole. Here Hood rests at Clapham
Junction Yard (an old resting place for locos off duty from The Mule
(Waterloo - Exeter services).

TPWS Proving Run for 50031 and 50049
Following
the fitment of TPWS 50031 and 50049 were required to perform a proving
run before being let loose on the mainline. This took place on the 19th
July 2004 via a roundabout route from Crewe along the North Wales coast
and back via Warrington. Here both locos are seen at Llandudno Junction
in their recently applied large logo blue livery.

Later
the same day the pair are now forming a "duff" sandwich. The
duff in question being 47750. The location is Warrington Arpley. The
complex routing of this trial was to ensure that the TPWS equipment in
each cab of each loco was proved independently.

ECS from the Festive Dining Experience
50031
returned the empty coaching stock from the previous days dining trains to
OOC. Smoking heavily after a night in the cold at Cardiff Central, Hood is
prepared for the run between the capitals.
