D444 in Green!
The Fifty Fund committee are always keen on innovative projects that
keep the organisation in the lime light. Publicity is essential to the
long term aims of The Fund, as publicity leads to more members and just
as importantly more opportunities to earn money to help pay the running
costs of our three locomotives. So when a shareholder and working member
came forward with an idea to paint D444 into two-tone green the
committee gave the idea serious thought. In the end, knowing that not
everyone would like the non-prototypical livery it was agreed that '44
should be repainted, but only for a short period. SO enjoy it while it
lasts!
So
here it is D444 in green as she might have carried it, if she had been
built only a few years earlier. The location is Old Oak Common
turn-table.
