Traction for Arriva Trains Wales
Cardiff Valley Lines Loco-hauled Farewell.
After over ten years of regular Cardiff Valley Lines
loco hauled operations they eventually came to an end in December 2005.
To celebrate a number of special trains were booked in an arrangement
that can only be described as a mainline diesel gala! All the classes
that have been involved in recent years were represented, with a 33 and
a 47 provided by West Coast Railways, class 37s from EWS (including
large logo 37425) and two class 50s (50031 and 50049) provided by The
Fifty Fund and Project Defiance.
Three
large logo locos waiting at Cardiff Canton on the afternoon of the 3rd
December for the following day's operations.

Shunting at Canton
To clear lines and improve access at Canton ATW asked our working
volunteers to allow them to use 50031 to move three HAA wagons across the yard.

Driver Training
Training
crews on class 50 traction has been ongoing since April 2006. On the
10th May 2006 50049 and 50031 are spotted standing at a red signal near
Haverford West, with 5Z60.
