Arriva Trains Wales
Recently Arriva Trains Wales have hired 50031 and
50049 to provide motive power for additional services at times of peak
travel or for special events at the Millennium Stadium.
Easter 2006
On the Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter
Saturday ATW ran a series of relief services between Cardiff and Crewe
using 50031 and 50049, some services were top and tail others were
classic loco at the head formations.

Hood leads the way north of Craven Arms with the 1Z47 1620 Cardiff
Central-Crewe. 50049 was dead on the rear of the train. (13th April
2006)

Summer 2006
During the summer of 2006, 50031 and 50049 (still
running with the names and numbers from long departed class mates,
50012, and 50028 on one side only) were used on a daily Cardiff -
Fishguard and return service.
